Technically you can just craft these and not rely on the artifacts your dwarves make. So basically make 7 pieces of goods, armor, weapon, crown, whatever and make sure it's the best material you can find.

It depends on the size of your embark though. A normal 4x4 embark really should have an adamantine vein, but a smaller 2x2 embark might miss it.
