Webb29 mars 2024 · I put a SM420 in an old CJ3 years ago and I don't recall any problems doing it. It is a great transmission, and I guarantee you wont break it. My jeep had 5:38 differentials in it, so with the transmission in granny low, and the transfer case also in low, I could easily walk faster than the Jeep was moving, even at 3000 RPM (guessing RPM).
